Happy Holidays

What an amazing year it has been at our facility as we've had the opportunity to support top NFL Draft picks, MLB All-Stars, national soccer and field hockey teams, and amazing local college, high school, and youth athletes, in addition to individuals looking to improve their own health and daily life performance. We are honored for the many opportunities to support so many from around the world, and look forward to continuing that support in 2012!

As 2011 comes to an end soon, it is a great time to reflect on the goals you set for yourself in the beginning of the year. If you accomplished your goals, think of the effort and work it took to achieve them, and make a commitment to again replicate that same effort to again achieve your goals. If you didn't achieve all that you wanted, reflect on where you can improve and what you can do differently to put yourself in the best position to achieve success! Make sure to communicate your goals to your support team at Athletes' Performance so that we are all on the same page, working together to help you achieve them!

As the year comes to an end, we are thankful for the many opportunities we had to support world-class athletes from around the world and across sports. Some of the highlights of athletes and teams we supported this year include:
We are equally proud of each of these accomplishments and the many more achieved by the athletes and teams we support, and look forward to even more continued success in 2012!
HSCPupdateHigh School / College Prep Update

Over the past several weeks we've had many new athletes start to train and join the Athletes' Performance team. This growth has provided athletes with new training goals and skill sets, adding to the healthy competitive nature that continues to drive our athletes each training session. Ultimately, everyone's goal is to become a better competitor in their respected sport, and the healthy competition helps serve as a powerful tool for motivation. In order to be the strongest, fastest, and most powerful athlete on the field, one must always test and measure itself against the competition. Training at Athletes' Performance provides top competition that breeds success.

Along with the new additions to High School Prep and College Prep, there has been an increasing demand for a College Prep football-specific training program. In our continued effort to meet our athletes' needs, we will be starting a new College Prep Football Performance Group in 2012! Starting Tuesday, February 21st through April 12th, there will be a College Prep football training group on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:15-8:45PM. This 8-week training cycle will be designed to increase performance in football-specific areas, including:

  • Acceleration & change of direction
  • Footwork mechanics
  • Vertical jump & 40-yard dash
  • Strength & power

We are looking forward to this program helping our athletes prepare for spring football as they become bigger, faster, and stronger on the field! For more information and to sign-up, contact us today.

To all of our athletes that have dedicated themselves to training with us this past year, thank you for all of your hard work! We look forward to continuing to supporting all of your and your performance goals in 2012!

by Edwina Clark

People joke about wearing their stretchy pants over the holidays, and while we don't condone sitting around the dinner table in stretch attire, turns out there's scientific evidence supporting this fashion statement. Research in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that half the weight people gain in a year (5 out of a whopping 10 pounds) occurs between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Here are five traps that cause you to eat more at the holidays, plus our advice to avoid them (so you can keep your regular pants on).

Click here to find out how to avoid these holiday traps and keep your nutrition goals on track during the holiday season.

SantaWorkoutThe Santa Claus Workout

by Steve Calechman

His body might not impress, but Santa's day is not for wusses. He has to cover over 75 million miles, burns over 12,000 calories, and has no margin for error. Mere mortals may never face rapid intercontinental travel by sleigh, but the essential tasks that the big man has to perform-jumping, gripping, balancing, running non-stop-and the muscles employed have earthbound uses.

Check out the workout we put together for Old St. Nick, and have enjoy some fitness fun with family and friends this holiday season!
